The reason the Panama Canal was built

The Panama canal was built for one main reason, so that the west Europeans can trade faster with the countries in the eastern and southern part of Asia. Another reason is so the trip from the east coast of the United States to the west coast of the Untied States would be shorter like from New York City to San Francisco. Before the Panama Canal explores had to go around South America or they had to go around Africa. This trip would take years to complete so the Panama Canal changed the way of traveling. Without the canal trading would be much harder and so would travel. Instead of going around South America or Africa now we can go through the Panama Canal. It takes about 15-20 hours to go through the canal which is way faster than the other way.
